Cheetahs

I am a huge fan of big cats and have taken many pictures in the past of Lions and Tigers.

One big cat in particular that fascinates me is the Cheetah, with their elegant posture and immense speed they may not be as cuddly looking as Lions and Tigers but boy can they pack a punch when it comes to chasing prey.

Last February I was lucky enough to be up close and personal with a family of Cheetahs and enjoyed a photography shoot like no other, maybe it was due to my calm and quiet approach or simply just luck that worked in my favour that day as I managed to capture some images that I will treasure for a long time to come.

Which is your favourite big cat?

Feel free to show some of your images on this post.

Water Drops

As a photographer I love taking pictures of moving things and overcoming the challenges that this may bring, whether that be of people or a freeze frame of something else like water.

I’ve seen so many images of water drops on the internet and although the majority are fantastic to look at they tend to be a bit ‘samey’ with not a great deal of variation or individuality.

With this in mind I decided to add a twist to the usual water drop image by adding other objects in the mix thus creating something different as well as conveying a fresh image that has the ability to capture the eye and stand out from the crowd.

By using the built in flash and a high shutter speed I was able to capture the water drops in a clear crisp way, timing was key and I managed to get some good ripple shots as well which I used for a different project.

By creating the image from scratch I found ideas coming forward which built from one step to the next, my creativity coursing through my veins with a determination that if I was going to take on the challenge of submitting a different type of water drop image then I was going to do it well!

 A dripping water faucet
Knows not to slow or stop,
But knows that time is going by
and counts it drop by drop.

Yet while the faucet sets there
the drop is free to go…
it ends up in a river
or in a fallen snow.

It may find that it’s needed
to give a quenching drink
or help in making bubbles
for dishes in the sink…

And then again, it may be found
playing with your mind
by showing off a rainbow
and helping you unwind;

Or even on a summer day
a person finds it there
within the water that they swim
and summertime will share.

That faucet nor that water drop
can tell what will be done…
some times the drop will find you
and some times you find one.

Proud to be different

Photography has always been a hobby of mine, since I was as young as I can remember with my slimline camera and 35mm film I would take pictures of everything around me.  My earliest memories being when I was around 8 years old, rearranging my Grandma’s ornaments and taking pictures of them as if they were real and having a portrait shot!  I couldn’t wait to send off the used film and waited patiently for the postman to arrive some days later with my printed pictures.  All those memories are now in albums and I look at them now and then with a smile as it was these times that made me into the photographer that I am today.

I recently found out from my Grandad that he too was an avid photographer in his day who still has all the lenses and equipment, my Dad was also a keen photographer so I guess its in the genes!  All i know is that taking pictures is my passion and nothing else in the world provides the escapism and creativity that comes from picking up my Canon DSLR and shooting images, whether that’s a bee flying onto an open flower, a portrait shoot with a family or images of an empty room!’

Thanks to the technology available to us today and with Digital photography seeming to take over the industry, there are literally millions of ‘photographers’ out there, anyone with a compact camera can catch pictures of a moment in time, however it takes a certain eye to catch an image that tells a story, capturing an expression that says a thousand words.  That’s why Professional Photographers are worth their weight in gold when it comes to speacial moments like your Wedding Day, the first shots of your newborn baby at home, website and promotional pictures for your buusiness etc.

First impressions count for everything and in particular with a company, professional pictures could mean the difference between new business or your potential customers going elsewhere.

As a professional I am here to provide you with pictures that you can treasure for a lifetime and look at with fond memories and put a smile on your face with each viewing.
