Cheetahs

I am a huge fan of big cats and have taken many pictures in the past of Lions and Tigers.

One big cat in particular that fascinates me is the Cheetah, with their elegant posture and immense speed they may not be as cuddly looking as Lions and Tigers but boy can they pack a punch when it comes to chasing prey.

Last February I was lucky enough to be up close and personal with a family of Cheetahs and enjoyed a photography shoot like no other, maybe it was due to my calm and quiet approach or simply just luck that worked in my favour that day as I managed to capture some images that I will treasure for a long time to come.

Which is your favourite big cat?

Feel free to show some of your images on this post.

Glass Winged Butterflies

A butterfly with translucent wings is both rare and beautiful.  As delicate as finely blown glass.

Glass Winged by Denise Miller Photography (.co.uk)

I stood, transixed looking in wonderment at the sight before me, occasionally looking through their wings to make sure that my eyes were not deceiving me, could it be that something so precious is sharing the same air as me?! And with that thought the glass winged butterfly flew off to another leaf.  Maybe it didn’t appreciate my camera lens interupting its lunch!

I moved around the area and saw many other butterflies however my mind kept being drawn back to the glass winged beauties, my eyes searching for a photo opportunity that would be original to any other that I had seen.  As if on queue I saw three together balanced on a plant as if having a girly gossip! There irt was, the opportunity I had been waiting for …. 🙂

Elegant beauty of a Swan

Swans have a natural beauty which is both elegant and fascinating to watch, from the way they interact with one another, to the great sight when they stretch their wings to show off their full size wing span.  I myself have never been lucky enough to see a swan in flight but I would definitely like to (preferably with my camera present!).

I recently went to St Albans Park which is where I photgraphed the swan you see in these pictures, both myself and my sister sat by the water waiting for the swans to stretch their wings – why is it that these things never happen when you are waiting patiently for them?  Like watching a kettle boil, as soon as our back was turned the swans woke up, as if on purpose! Maybe they just weren’t in the mood to have their picture taken!

I will get the shot I’m after …….. one day soon!
